Phobias are irrational fears that cause anxiety. Although phobias are common, they don’t always significantly disrupt your life like a phobia of snakes when you’re in the city and less likely to run into one. However, experiencing the following may be a sign that you should consider treatment:
A. Intense disabling fear, panic, and anxiety
B. You recognize this fear as excessive and unreasonable
C. Avoiding certain situations and places because of the phobia
D. The avoidance interferes with your normal routine
E. The phobia lasts for at least six months
